HIKING

Gréoux-les-Bains is situated in a nature reserve in the Verdon valley and benefits from an exceptional and well-preserved landscape. Plains with lavender fields, olive groves, Mediterranean heather, hills, lakes, gorges,… so much open country and space suitable for outdoor activities. From a leisurely stroll to more serious hiking, nature lovers can discover the Provençal landscape in any way they choose. The abundance of plants that are typical of the south of France adds fragrance and colour to your excursions.

Available at the Tourist Office, the «Local Hiking Map» contains details of a network of 12 waymarked trails, useful tips and descriptions of local fauna and flora.

Explore Provence on a guided walk

If you like combining fun with knowledge, why not take part in one of the walks organised by the Tourist Office? Your guide will share his passion for the area with you, filling you in on local flora and fauna. Available between March and December, this hiking programme is guaranteed to delight! There’s something to suit all walking paces and tastes!

Fun and educational themed walks for all ages. Departure at the Tourist Office. Observating beavers and wild, edible plants, and explore the Verdon canal, the Valensole plateau and a network of transhumance routes.

Enjoy footpath walking in the area’s most picturesque parts, taking you to the Verdon Gorges, the Trevans Gorges, Moustiers Sainte- Marie, Oppedette Gorges, several Verdon and Luberon summits and many other areas nearby.

Informal, friendly walks to some of the region’s most impressive sites : Verdon Canyon, Martel hiking trail, Mont Denier Summit, etc.

CYCLING

The natural relief and the varied landscape are ideal for cycling, making it a real pleasure!

Road bikes or mountain bikes… Whatever your preference, interest or level may be, you are sure to enjoy the routes on offer!

Mountain biking on trails suitable for all abilities, with plenty of technical tips and advice.

Expeditions reserved for experienced bikers who like unmarked trails, with the emphasis on single tracks.

Available at the tourist office you’ll find mountain biking maps of the Gréoux-les-Bains area, suggesting a great range of routes covering a total distance of 1000 km. Around Gréoux-les-Bains there are many quiet roads, ideally suited for road cyclists. In addition, every year a number of tours are organised, for which you may register. The Tourist Office offers free cycling maps covering the Gréoux-les-Bains area and surroundings, suggesting many possible routes. Take a map and discover at your own pace the mythical places of Provence. Many different itinerary suggestions are at your disposal: the Valensole plateau and its lavender fields, the awe-inspiring lakes and Verdon Gorges and, last but not least, the Sainte-Victoire Mountain, the Lure Mountain and the high plains of the Haut-Var.

Discovering the area on an electric bike

You can also discover the region and its scenery in comfort and with much less effort on an e-bike.

New ! Hire an electric bike

Hiring an electric bike is a great way to get around the town easily or to explore the surrounding villages. It’s also the best way to conquer the steep terrain of Provence and the Verdon region. Whilst it looks and is driven like a normal bike, an e-bike has a concealed battery that provides electric assistance for around 70km or more. These electric bikes can be hired at the Bike-Rental Agency in Gréoux-les-Bains. Please refer to the Tourist Office for further details.

Aquatic fun

Boating activities

Water is a common denominator in Gréoux-les-Bains. From the wildlife-filled banks of the Verdon to the rejuvenating waters of the health resort, not forgetting the lapping sounds of the fountains and wash-houses, water is everywhere you go. With Verdon Gorge and various lakes so close by, the more adventurous will find plenty of thrill-seeking opportunities. Choose from a range of watersports or explore some of the area’s stunning natural attractions.

Esparron-de-Verdon lake and Sainte-Croix lake are the ideal spot for boating activities in the summer. As well as sailing clubs, you’ll find canoe, pedalo and electric boat hire, perfect for exploring the Verdon Gorges.
